Student Engagement & Customer Service
- Provide friendly, welcoming, and responsive customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and other users of the Dining, Learning and Well-being Center (DLWC).
- Assist students with general questions about building hours, locations, services, shared spaces, and University resources, referring questions to the appropriate staff member when needed.
- Help students navigate and appropriately use study areas, meeting rooms, collaborative spaces, and other shared areas.
- Promote a welcoming, inclusive, and positive environment throughout the DLWC.
- Communicate student questions, concerns, and feedback to the Building Manager or appropriate staff member.

Duties/Responsibilities:Building & Space Support
- Assist with routine opening, closing, and operational tasks as assigned.
- Conduct basic walkthroughs of designated areas and report concerns related to cleanliness, safety, furnishings, equipment, restrooms, lighting, or general building conditions.
- Assist with preparing shared spaces for meetings, events, and other activities, including basic furniture arrangements and signage.
- Help ensure shared spaces are organized, accessible, and ready for student use.
- Report maintenance or facility concerns to the Building Manager or appropriate staff member.

Duties/Responsibilities:Safety & Building Awareness
- Follow established procedures related to building access, safety, security, and emergency situations.
- Report unsafe conditions, security concerns, damaged equipment, or other building issues promptly to the Building Manager or appropriate University personnel.
- Assist with maintaining awareness of emergency exits, safety equipment, and other designated safety features.
- Complete required University and Dining Services safety and training programs.

Position Summary:The Building Management Student Assistant supports the daily operations of the Dining, Learning and Well-being Center by helping maintain a safe, secure, clean, welcoming, and functional environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Working under the direction of the Building Manager, this position provides front-line customer service and assists with routine building inspections, space stewardship, access and security procedures, maintenance reporting, room and event support, signage, and general building logistics.The Student Assistant serves as an important operational presence within the facility, identifying and communicating building conditions, safety concerns, maintenance needs, and customer service issues to the Building Manager. The position follows established University and Dining Services policies and procedures, supports emergency preparedness and safety activities, and helps coordinate routine building operations.This position provides students with meaningful hands-on experience in facility operations, customer service, building safety, problem-solving, communication, and professional workplace practices while contributing to the successful operation of one of the University of Georgia’s highly utilized student-facing facilities.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies :- Must be currently enrolled as a University of Georgia student and maintain eligibility for student employment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to provide professional, courteous, and responsive customer service.
- Work independently on assigned responsibilities while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office or comparable applications and electronic communication systems.
- Maintain a professional appearance, demeanor, and positive attitude in a highly visible, student and University-facing environment.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Work assigned shifts and maintain a reliable schedule.
- Availability for evening, weekend, special-event, or University-break assignments may be required based on operational needs.
- Must successfully complete all required University and Dining Services training applicable to the position.
- Walk and stand for extended periods while conducting building walkthroughs and performing assigned duties.
- Occasionally move or position light furniture, signage, supplies, or equipment in accordance with established safety procedures.
