We value the safety of all members of the Gator Community at our beautiful campus on the Sabine River. LSCO publishes an Annual Security Report that provides information regarding campus Safety & Security, including topics such as crime reporting policies, information regarding programs to prevent dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking, the procedures the College will follow when one of these crimes is reported, and other matters of importance related to security on campus. The report also contains information about crime statistics for the three most recent calendar years concerning reported crimes.

Job SummaryGENERAL DESCRIPTIONThe Admissions and Recruitment Specialist reports directly to the Director of Admissions and Recruiting and is responsible for is responsible for supporting Lamar State College Orange’s student recruitment and enrollment efforts by developing relationships with prospective students, families, high school partners, community organizations, and other stakeholders. The position represents the college at recruitment events, college fairs, high school visits, community events, and on-campus activities while providing prospective students with accurate information about academic programs, admissions requirements, enrollment processes, and student services. Duties and responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to the following:

1. Serve on college task forces, committees, and councils as required.
2. Assist in the day-to-day operations within the student services division providing support where needed.
3. Offer exceptional customer service in a student-centered, professional environment.
4. Evenings, weekends, and travel will be required.
5. Attend ceremonial and student activities.
6. Assist in planning and managing meetings, events, and trainings.
7. Engage in professional development activities, give presentations, and participate in panel discussions.
9. Collaborate with Admissions, Advising, Financial Aid, Marketing, Student Life, and academic departments to support student recruitment and enrollment.
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
Requires a minimum of an associate degree from an accredited college or equivalent work experience; bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university is preferred.
Experience
Two years of work experience in customer service, public education, or in education with a focus on student success, advising, counseling, career placement or other related initiatives. Related experience will also be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Above average skills in the utilization of computer systems, Banner, Argos, and Microsoft Office applications.
Experience in recruitment and career interest assessment/advising and student success.
An ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects, priorities, budgets, and personalities; maintain a high profile in community activities.
An ability to develop, recommend and oversee creative student success initiative.
Ability to create proposals and represent them to constituent groups.
Strong public speaking skills.
Supplemental InformationPhysical RequirementsNormal ambulatory requirement: extreme cognitive skills required; advanced speech-communication required; advanced written communication required; acute visual requirements; normal or corrected hearing required; and frequent travel. Requires constant sitting, walking, and seeing. Requires frequent standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects up to twenty-five pounds; operating a calculator, personal computer, and various office equipment. Requires infrequent stooping, bending, sorting, and filing.

Lamar State College Orange currently has a student body of approximately 2,648. Two-year academic programs are offered in business, communication, computer science, criminal justice, education, liberal arts, theater, natural science and sociology. These academic programs lead to associate of science degrees and will transfer to four-year institutions for students seeking baccalaureate degrees. Thirty technical programs are available, leading to associate of applied science degrees, certificates of completion and institutional awards. Some of these degrees include process operating and industrial technology, instrumentation, and medical office. Customized training programs to meet the needs of local business and industry and offered through the Continuing and Workforce Education Department.
