The Department of Physiology invites candidates for an open rank tenure-track faculty position in all areas of modern physiology.

The Department of Physiology at UCLA has a strong tradition of excellence in biophysics, membrane transport, neuroscience, cardiovascular research, and structural biology and has made many major discoveries in these areas. We welcome candidates investigating fundamental mechanisms across all areas of modern physiology, from molecular and cellular processes to organ and systems biology. Applications are also encouraged from researchers applying modern analytical tools, including data science, multi-omics, or advanced imaging, to address high-impact questions in biomedical science. Candidates must have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree, and are expected to have a strong track record of research achievements and a demonstrated interest in tackling outstanding biological problems using state-of-the-art approaches.

The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program and participate in the teaching mission of the Department for medical, dental, and graduate students. We welcome candidates whose experience in teaching, research, or community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to inclusiveness and excellence.

Candidates who advance to the Short List must be available for on-campus interviews that will take place on January 21-22, 2027.

As with any incomplete application, the application will not receive further consideration. Although all applicants for faculty recruitments must complete the entire application, only finalists (i.e., those to whom the department or other hiring unit would like to extend a formal offer) considered for Academic Senate faculty positions will be subject to targeted employment reference checks.
