Job Summary

The women's softball assistant coach is a part-time position responsible for assisting the head coach in teaching
skills and techniques, recruiting, game preparation, and scouting for the College of Coastal Georgia's women's
softball program. The position shares responsibility with the head coach for the preparation, upkeep, and
game-day readiness of the softball facility.

Responsibilities

1 . Assists the head coach with all aspects of leading the team, including training, competing, scouting,
scheduling, and recruiting.
2 . Provides instruction to softball student-athletes on the fundamentals, details, and strategies of softball
as assigned by the head coach.
3 . Assists the head coach in scouting and developing practices and game strategies.
4 . Complies with all rules and regulations set forth for the team, the College, the Sun Conference, and the
NAIA.
5 . Assists with the routine maintenance and playability of the softball field, including dragging and
grooming the infield skin, chalking foul lines and batter's and coach's boxes, setting bases, and maintaining
the pitching circle and home plate areas.
6 . Assists with weather-related field management, including deploying, securing, and removing field tarps,
applying drying agents and infield conditioner, and returning the facility to playable condition following
inclement weather.
7 . Assists with facility preparation for home competition and practice, including field lining, equipment and
dugout setup, and post-event breakdown; maintains bullpens, batting cages, netting, screens, padding, and

fencing, and reports damage or safety concerns promptly. Coordinates with Facilities and Grounds
personnel on mowing, irrigation, turf treatment, and larger repair projects.
8 . Completes assigned administrative duties in a timely manner.
9 . Works cooperatively with personnel in the Department of Athletics and always represents the College
positively when interacting with the community, alumni, high school and club coaches, media, and the
general public.
10 . Performs related work as required.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
Other Required Qualifications
- Must possess a current, valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and pass a yearly Motor Vehicle
Report review.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and will be subject to random drug testing.
- Must be able to perform physical field maintenance duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds, working
outdoors in varying weather conditions, and operating basic grounds and field maintenance equipment.
Required Experience
- Experience in coaching women's softball at the intercollegiate, international, or professional level

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications
- Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
Preferred Experience
- More than three years' experience as a coach in an intercollegiate softball program or significant equivalent
experience.
- Experience with skinned-infield maintenance and game-day field preparation.

- Knowledge of the rules and regulations governing intercollegiate softball.
- Knowledge of college-level athletic program management principles.
- Knowledge of softball rules and procedures.
- Knowledge of softball field maintenance practices, materials, and equipment.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.

SKILLS
- Skill in the coaching and training of student-athletes.
- Skill in the preparation and maintenance of a competition-ready softball facility.-¿ Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
