Job Details:Coastal Carolina University invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Communication or a related field to begin in August 2027. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Communication, Journalism, Mass Communication, or a closely related discipline. ABD candidates with a clear plan for degree completion prior to May 31, 2027, may be considered. Applications will be reviewed beginning on October 15, 2026.The teaching load is three courses per academic semester and may include face-to-face, hybrid, or online delivery formats. We are seeking excellent teacher-scholars who can teach the department’s foundation courses as well as courses in the graduate program, including communication theory and communication research. Faculty will also teach courses in their areas of expertise. Preference will be given to candidates whose expertise includes one or more of the following areas: media, social media, health communication, and emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence. Faculty are expected to provide high-quality instruction, maintain an active scholarly agenda, mentor students, and provide service to the Department, College, and University.

Job Duty:Teaches students in the classroom, laboratory, and/or studio.
Job Duty:Prepares content, syllabi, and University Moodle/curricular site for each course and/or lab assigned each semester. Communicates to students after reviewing assignments. Calculates and assigns grades (e.g., mid-term and final) through established procedures listed in the Faculty Manual and University catalog. Tracks and reports absences as directed by the Office of the Registrar.
Job Duty:Conducts research to create and add to knowledge in a field or produces creative work. Trains students in related research techniques and in creative production.
Job Duty:Posts and holds regular office hours each week per College and University guidelines. Engages in University-related activities including committee assignments, meetings, ceremonies, events and scholarly pursuits as prescribed in the Faculty Manual.
