The College of Arts and Sciences is seeking to hire an experienced Administrative Specialist III

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The ideal candidate for this position will This position will serve as the curriculum and textbook ordering lead for the college. In this capacity, the position will manage the annual course and catalog update process, coordinate meetings of the college faculty Curriculum Committee; train college-level peers and department administrators in the use of Banner, Acalog, Curriculog, and related tools. Monitor their progress  and perform secondary data quality checks of courses and catalogs following updates. The position will also manage book ordering processes for the college. Each of the college-level scheduler positions will be assigned 3-4 academic departments to update academic program curricula and courses each year. This curriculum lead will work collaboratively with the scheduling lead to make department assignments. This position will also work with college peers on course scheduling, instruction information collection, and related duties as needed.

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Administrative Specialist III are the following:

·         Works directly with department chairs/associate chairs in the development and maintenance of the course schedule for 3-4 academic units in the College or Arts and Sciences.

·         Lead planning sessions with assigned departments to plan development of future schedules based on college and university enrollment data and curricular updates.

·         Collecting information systematically from departments to build and update the course schedule.

·         Input all scheduling changes in the Banner student information system.

·         Regularly perform data quality assessments to ensure accuracy of course schedule.

·         Monitors enrollment in designated departments and makes recommendations for adjustments as needed.

·         As curriculum lead for the college, the position will manage the annual course and catalog update process.

·         Coordinate meetings of the college faculty Curriculum Committee.

·         Train college-level peers and department administrators in the use of Banner, Acalog, Curriculog, and related tools.

·         Monitor progress and perform secondary data quality checks of courses and catalogs following updates.

·         Each of the college-level scheduler positions will be assigned 3-5 academic departments to update academic program curricula and courses each year.

·         The curriculum lead will work collaboratively with the scheduling lead to make department assignments.

·         Manage faculty textbook ordering processes for the college and direct book ordering coordination of peers in Enrollment Services area.

·         In collaboration with college faculty review services staff, assists departments with the collection of instructional information needed for faculty annual and promotion reviews, including course syllabi, student evaluation of instruction reports, grade reports, and related materials collected in teaching portfolios. 

·         Supports final grade submission process for the designated departments.

·         Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.



Qualifications

Minimum requirements:  

Bachelor's degree and four years administrative experience; or High school diploma or GED and eight years administrative experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

The university announced in April 2008 that is will begin Division I-AA football in 2010.

The university’s innovative Touch the Earth program brings outdoor recreation ranging from backpacking, rock climbing, sailing, kayaking, rafting and water-skiing to out-of-state snow-skiing and snorkeling trips. And WRAS, Georgia State’s popular 100,000-watt radio voice, is the most powerful student-run radio station in the United States.
