Work Schedule, Hours per week: 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM/Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday

Starting Salary Range: $50.67 per hour



Position Summary: Johnson County Community College is seeking part-time clinical instructors to teach in the area of Med/Surg, in the acute care hospital setting, starting in the spring 2027 term. The clinical instructor will work with a group of our ADN students at a clinical agency setting one (1) day a week, and will remain on the same day each week. Hospital clinical assignments take place on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Saturday. Groups could be 1st semester, 2nd semester, or 4th (final) semester students in the spring. Each individual may be asked to be available for on campus activities as needed, which may fall on a day other than their assigned clinical day.

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in nursing from an accredited college or university. Candidates with a BSN and requisite experience will be considered.
  • Active single-state RN licenses in both Kansas and Missouri, or an active Multi-state RN license.
  • Active BLS certification as a Healthcare Provider (through American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
  • Current registered nursing experience in the area being taught.
  • A minimum of three years full-time or equivalent nursing experience within the last five years.
  • Ability to work closely with students, collaborate with hospital facility nurses and staff, to ensure a quality, hands-on learning experience in either an acute care, inpatient, medical/surgical or maternal-child/pediatric setting.
  • This role requires supervision of students with the ability to provide constructive feedback documented on formative and summative evaluation tools, and have excellent communication skills, both verbally and in written formats.
  • This role also requires comfort and competency with utilizing a computer or other electronic device to access the nursing course(s) in the learning management system, and document in the online evaluation tools utilized in the program.
  • Ability to multitask; process multiple sources of information quickly.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior clinical teaching experience preferred, but not mandatory.
  • One (1) to three (3) years relevant teaching experience in prelicensure nursing education.

With more than 34,000 students enrolled in credit and continuing education classes each semester, Johnson County Community College is the state's third largest institution of higher education and the largest of its 19 community colleges.

JCCC offers a full range of undergraduate credit courses that form the first two years of most college curricula. The college has more than 100 transfer agreements with area colleges and universities that ensure admittance to specific programs such as business, engineering and education. JCCC students are able to begin their first two years of a four-year degree program here and complete that degree on schedule.

In addition, more than 50 one- and two-year career and certificate programs prepare students to enter the job market in high-employment fields. The college maintains extensive student support services such as computer labs, math labs, a writing center and a learning center.

JCCC’s continuing education program is the largest, most comprehensive in the Kansas City area. Through the Center for Business and Technology, participants can take courses in management and computer application or seminars and workshops that lead to professional certification and licensure. Personal enrichment classes, on topics ranging from gardening to money management, are also offered, while nationally and internationally performing and visual artists appear in the performance spaces and Gallery of Art in JCCC’s Carlsen Center.
