SUMMARY

This is a Part-Time Tutor pool that assists students enrolled in the Nursing Program.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include working days, evenings and/or weekends.

Requires the provision of official transcripts and/or certifications within (30) days of hire.

This is a security sensitive position and requires a criminal history and/or motor vehicle records check. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Responsible for directly tutoring individuals in the Nursing Program by asking and answering questions and demonstrating examples relating to the subject. This position is limited to no more than 19 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Answer academic questions, providing examples relating to the subject

Evaluate and recommend tutoring materials

Assist in clarifying nursing concepts

Other related duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

At least 18 credit hours

Good academic standing

Overall GPA 3.0 in RNSG courses

Currently enrolled ADN student or graduate of an accredited ADN program

PREFERRED QUALIFICATONS

Bilingual – English/Spanish

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Mastery of courses being tutored

Capable of working with both faculty and students

Ability to be empathetic to students with difficulties

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to be well organized, task-oriented, and flexible

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee typically works in an office and classroom environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office or classroom. The employee may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to twenty (20) pounds.
