Position Description
At TTUHSC, our team members help make quality healthcare accessible to the communities we serve. As a Patient Services Specialist I, you will contribute to a patient-centered environment by supporting clinic operations, coordinating administrative processes, and helping patients navigate their healthcare experience. With close direction, the PSS I performs standard clerical responsibilities that impact clinic patient flow in accordance with established procedures. Responsibilities may include registration, scheduling, collections, and/or insurance authorizations.

Major/Essential Functions

• Coordinate patient referrals and assist with completing the referral process.
• Communicate with patients, healthcare providers, clinic staff, and insurance companies to gather needed information.
• Obtain and verify referrals and authorizations from provider offices and insurance carriers.
• Schedule patient appointments and provide appointment details to patients and referring offices.
• Enter and maintain accurate patient and referral information in electronic systems.
• Monitor referral status and ensure documentation is complete and up to date.
• Provide excellent customer service while helping patients navigate the referral and scheduling process.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with healthcare privacy requirements.

Visa Information
TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.
