Classification Minimum Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Job Description:Site Inspections, Remediation Guidance, and Documentation: Help ensure NPDES and MS4 permitting requirements are met by performing routine and post-storm inspections of UF's Stormwater Infrastructure including but not limited to roadways, basins, ponds, outfalls, inlets, swales, trash traps, and conveyances (pipes, creeks, ditches). Document findings via inspection reports, daily logs, emails, and photographs. Report non-compliant conditions to Storm Water System Manager. Provide education and guidance to campus community (Students, staff, contractors, etc.) regarding erosion and sediment control, illicit discharges, and storm system Best Management Practices (BMPs). Assist with measuring and quantifying storm water quality and identifying pollutant sources by collecting water samples from ponds, basins, and storm water conveyances. Assists in all aspects of permitting for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, St John's River Water Management District, or any other Authority Having Jurisdiction. May be required to assist with onsite safety observation of FS trades, contractors, and engineers while performing duties.
Assist with Maintenance of Stormwater Infrastructure: Identify deficiencies with storm water infrastructure. Based on direction provided by Storm Water System Manager, either address minor deficiencies via manual labor or major deficiencies by assisting with development of scope of work to be completed via FS trade shops, contractors, and engineers. Manual labor needed to address minor deficiencies includes but is not limited to dewatering, weed trimming, shoveling, raking, trash removal, repair/replace signage, and providing support to FS Trades, contractors, and engineers. May be required to assist with onsite safety observation of FS trades, contractors, and engineers while performing duties.
Assist with development and maintenance of utility system records. Assist UF Teams, contractors, and engineers with data collection and verification needed to develop GIS, Aim, Storm System models, and other digital tools used to operate and maintain utility systems. Works with computer software, accessing prints using AutoCAD,GIS, and asset management software. Assists the utilities staff and project managers on location of existing underground assets and assists in identifying underground assets as they are discovered using (GPR)Ground Penetrating Radar and line location tools. May be required to assist with onsite safety observation of FS trades, contractors, and engineers while performing duties.
FL Driver's License is required.
Criminal Background Check and Post-Offer physical Assessment required.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:
5 days a week; total hours per week: 40
Mon-Fri 8 AM-5 PM typical schedule. May vary as needed.
Expected Salary:$19.25 to $24.00 Hourly based on experience

Preferred:One year experience in Stormwater inspection.
Valid Florida Stormwater 1 Inspector license.
