Job Description:
This is a full-time grant-funded research assistant position to assist with an NIMH-funded project examining mechanisms of risk for the intergenerational transmission of depression in infants of mothers with postpartum depression, including attentional biases for affectively-salient stimuli (assessed with computer-based eye tracking and behavioral coding of mother-infant interactions), psychophysiological responses, environmental stress, etc.
Duties will include:
- coordinating participant recruitment
- preparation of study materials
- participant assessments
- and database management
SKILLS KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS
- Strong interpersonal skills are essential as are strong organizational skills
SUPERVISION AND INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT
- Supervision will be provided in one-on-one and group meetings
- Job will require moderate amount of independent judgement
Requirements:
- BA/BS in Psychology or other scientific field
- Demonstrate a conscientious work style
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Prior experience working as a research assistant in a research-based Psychology, Neuroscience, or related lab
PREFERRED
- Experience working with children, adolescents, and/or adults with depression, including experience with diagnostic interviewing
- Experience conducting research with eye tracking, EEG/ERP, and/or psychophysiological assessments
- Experience with MATLAB or R
Additional Information:
Salary: $40,000 annually

History
Binghamton University opened its doors as Triple Cities College in 1946, to serve the needs of local veterans returning from service in World War II. Originally located in Endicott, N.Y., five miles west of the present campus, the fledgling school was a branch of Syracuse University.
Four years later, the college was incorporated into the State University of New York (SUNY) and renamed Harpur College in honor of Robert Harpur, a Colonial teacher, patriot and pioneer who helped settle the area west of Binghamton.
In 1961, the campus moved across the Susquehanna River to Vestal. Growing enrollment and a reputation for excellence soon led to the selection of Harpur College as one of four doctorate-granting University Centers in the SUNY system.
In 1965, the campus was formally designated the State University of New York at Binghamton, and in 1992, Binghamton University was adopted as our informal name.
