The Help Center Manager provides a broad range of professional counseling and support services to faculty, staff, and their family members across the university, SLACK, and Stanford's two hospital. This role supervises professional staff, oversees the Faculty Staff Help Center's (FSHC) trainee training program, and manages employee-focused programs and services, including educational workshops and support groups.
This position is at 80% FTE.
ResponsibilitiesCore Duties:
Manage all educational programs, workshops, and support servicesfor the Stanford community.
Identify the needs of the community and provide recommendationsto the Director for rollout.
Provide educational, informational, and training programs foremployees to increase awareness of health and wellness issues; substanceabuse issues; mental health; family, financial, and job-related stress;and conflict resolution.
Develop and market FSHC programs, or related services, to promoteemployee understanding and use of available resources.
Responsible for management of counseling staff, including hiring,and retaining staff, career coaching, professional development fordirect reports and accountable for the performance of employees. Provideleadership for the Center in absence of the Director.
Manage the trainee program. Support the educational needs oftrainees; provide oversight of training processes; and support centerstaff in their direct supervision of trainees.
Participate and promote ongoing professional developmentactivities focused on excellence and culturally sensitive care.
Provide departmental, leadership, and team consultation oncomplex cases; consult with faculty, human resource managers, andsupervisors regarding workplace behavioral issues and departmentalstresses including assessment, referral, conflict resolution, educationand facilitation of group discussions.
Respond to school/unit requests by providing direct, short-termservices to diverse client populations and underrepresented groupsacross campus, problem assessment, referral, counseling and crisisintervention, follow-up, case management, and management consultationfor a broad range of concerns.
Make referrals to appropriate resources and therapists in thecommunity, and follow-up with clients as needed.
Maintain clinical records and case documentation; assist withinternal operations and special projects as needed.
Minimum Education:
Master's degree in social work or psychology or related field
Minimum Experience:
Five years relevant post licensure experience, or equivalent workexperience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Expertise in clinical skills in evaluation, crisis intervention,and case management.
Ability to be “On Call” as needed to support absence of Directorand can assign “On Call” duties to professional staff.
Proven ability to interact with diverse constituencies.
Demonstrated strong communication skills (both verbal andwritten).
Excellent planning and organizational skills.
Expertise in program development and implementation.
Demonstrated supervisory skills including conflictresolution.
Modeling of the highest levels of integrity and ethicalstandards.
Proficiency with timely completion of case documentation andadministrative tasks.
Demonstrated ability to provide highly responsive and supportiveleadership of or supervision for center staff.
Certificates and Licenses Required
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapy license,or PhD psychotherapy licensure for California.
Licensed Psychologist commensurate with trainee licensing needs.
