Job Details
This is a security-sensitive position and requires a criminal history and/or motor vehicle records check. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIESResponsible for directly tutoring individuals by asking and answering questions and demonstrating example relating to the subject.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTutor student populations in various subject areasAnswer academic questions, providing examples relating to the subjectProvide analytic and diagnostic services to increase student successEnsure students individual learning needs are metRefer students to necessary campus support services Evaluate and recommend tutoring materials Facilitate review sessions, workshops and trainingsMay require travel to our main campus in Alvin and/or to various offsite locations, including local high schoolsOther duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSAt least 18 credit hoursAt least 6 credit hours in area of tutoring assignmentB+ or higher in course to tutorOverall GPA of 2.5 or betterGood academic standing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSOne (1) year of related work experience in a post-secondary institution Bilingual – English/Spanish
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESMastery of course(s) being tutoredBasic knowledge of Microsoft Office applicationsCapable of working with both faculty and studentsAbility to be empathetic to students with difficultiesAbility to maintain confidentiality Possess excellent verbal and written communications skillsPossess good interpersonal skills to perform successfully in a multicultural environmentAbility to be well organized, task-oriented and flexibleAbility to work flexible hours to include evenings and weekends at various locations
WORK ENVIRONMENTThe employee typically works in an office/library learning center environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office or library. The employee may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day. PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to twenty (20) pounds.AI Statement:Working knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and the ability to use them responsibly, ethically, and in compliance with organizational guidelines.
