JOB SUMMARY

The School of Fine Arts Financial Services Office seeks qualified applicants for a full-time position as Financial Assistant 2 (Band Level 2) within the Office of the Dean. Under the direction of the Assistant Finance Director and reporting directly to a supervisor or a designated team leader, this position provides fiscal support to all areas of the School of Fine Arts as part of a shared services, customer service-oriented team. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, detail-oriented individual capable of working in a fast-paced shared service setting. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary duties include administering all financial and personnel transactions, including payroll, purchasing, scholarships, accounts receivable/payables, and other disbursements. Serves as a resource regarding fiscal matters, reconciles discrepancies, and ensures compliance with state, University, and School policies/procedures. May also assist with grant proposal development, post award proposal management, and grant-related issues. Acts as a fiscal steward to the approved budget and assists with the decision making related to the appropriateness of requested expenditures. Performs other related duties as required, such as financial projections and reporting, bench-marking surveys, and other special projects or assignments. Adept at performing and presenting account reconciliations, invoice reconciliations, payroll reconciliations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two to three years of experience in financial record keeping, analysis, and reporting or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the degree and years requirement.
  • Demonstrated communication skills, including the ability to prepare materials for and clearly and effectively communicate information to internal audiences and client groups.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to handle complex, confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Excel and the ability to navigate enterprise-wide fiscal applications.
  • Highly organized, detailed-oriented, and able to manage multiple concurrent priorities and see tasks through to timely completion.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, or accounting.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in financial record keeping, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Experience in working with Kuali Financial Systems, WebFocus, Core CT, Concur, and HuskyBuy or similar systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerBI experience a plus.
  • APPOINTMENT TERMS

    This is a full-time (35 hours per week), permanent position. The University offers a competitive salary, and outstanding benefits, including employee and dependent tuition waivers at UConn, and a highly desirable work environment. A hybrid workweek schedule is available after serving a successful probationary period.
