Our campus is located at 1601 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA 30118.

Faculty and staff members are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the in-person educational experience and on-campus vitality at the University of West Georgia. Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses.

Job Summary

The Criminology Program at the University of West Georgia invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Criminology with a specialization in Victimology. We seek a broadly trained criminologist with expertise in victimization, victim services, and/or related areas of criminology and criminal justice who is committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching.

The successful candidate will contribute to the Criminology Program's undergraduate curriculum, and will also contribute to the Program¿s Victim Services Certificate. Opportunities may also exist to contribute to other areas of the criminology curriculum based on the candidate's expertise and program needs.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student-centered teaching, experiential learning, and connecting criminological knowledge to contemporary issues and professional practice. Candidates with professionally relevant experience in victim services, advocacy, criminal justice, social services, nonprofit organizations, or related fields are particularly encouraged to apply.

Required Qualifications

• A master's degree or higher in criminology, criminal justice, sociology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrated teaching experience in higher education, or other evidence of the ability to provide effective undergraduate instruction.
• Expertise in victimology, victimization, victim services, or a closely related area.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Commitment to undergraduate education and student success.

Preferred Qualifications

• A Ph.D. or other terminal degree in criminology, criminal justice, sociology, or a closely related field.
• College-level teaching experience, including experience developing courses.
• Professional experience in victim services, victim advocacy, criminal justice, social services, nonprofit organizations, or a related field.
• Ability to contribute to additional areas of the criminology curriculum beyond victimology.

Proposed Salary

Salary is commensurate with experience.
