The Development department within External Relations at Stanford’s Graduate School of Business seeks a Major Gifts Associate. The Major Gifts team is a group of dedicated front-line fundraisers and associates tasked with securing significant financial resources for the school. In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders across the GSB and Stanford University to help cultivate and maintain excellent relationships with key donors and alumni. You will provide administrative support to several major gift officers and be responsible for a range of assignments from research and meeting preparation to key systems management.

 

The Major Gifts Associate role is an excellent entry point into Stanford and the fundraising field. You will be a core member of a high-performing team with potential opportunities for advancement within the broader External Relations unit over time. A successful Major Gifts Associate is enthusiastic about Stanford GSB’s mission, has a strong belief in the importance of philanthropy, and is able to take ownership of new projects and challenges that will be critical to the team’s success. Responsibilities

Core Duties:

  • Plan and schedule calendar(s) for assigned gift officers or teammembers with limited consultation, resolve calendaring conflicts, andarrange travel in compliance with unit, university, and sponsorpolicies.

  • Oversee and/or perform duties associated with scheduling,organizing, and execution of volunteer meetings and events, includingarranging with vendors for services, overseeing the production anddistribution of materials, administering logistics, and managing eventswithin budget.

  • Assist in the design, publication and production of fundraisingmaterials.

  • Build a network of relevant contacts and stay informed on currentuniversity initiatives and activities.

  • Review and track funds and report on use of gifts, asassigned.

  • Retrieve information about prospects and donors, update records,and generate simple reports using the university external relationsdatabase.

  • Track budget(s), and process reimbursements fordepartment.

Minimum Education andExperience

Bachelor’s degree and one year of relevant experience or combinationof education and relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Office suite.

  • Knowledge of database systems, such as Microsoft Access.

  • Ability to work efficiently, juggle tasks simultaneously, meetdeadlines, and achieve goals.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with awide range of people.

  • Outstanding communication skills and exceptional attention todetail and follow-through.
