Position Summary::The Payroll Analyst reports directly to the Associate Chief Financial Officer. The Payroll Analyst is responsible for the monthly preparation of payroll and payroll tax deposits, preparation of the quarterly payroll reports, and unemployment benefits.
Required Education/Experience::- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field and two (2) years of accounting experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- At least 1 year of payroll experience.
- Excellent customer service skills including the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other staff members and the college community.
- Knowledge of and proficiency in using an administrative information system, preferably Ellucian.
- Strong Analytical skills.

Work Hours::Monday-Friday, typically 8:00 AM -5:00 PM, North Campus.

Duty and Responsibility::Prepares payroll calculations, deductions, insurance coverage, wage garnishments, tax filings, and child support.
Duty and Responsibility::Maintains benefit spreadsheets and reconciles to monthly invoices to ensure employee deductions are accurate and processes vendor payments.
Duty and Responsibility::Responsible for payroll tax reporting (Federal 941 and NC Withholding), W-2 processing, and payroll tax exceptions including foreign nationals, students (FWS), out-of-state employees and any other exceptions.
Duty and Responsibility::Prepares e-benefits import and export files on a weekly or monthly basis and checking for accuracy and correcting errors.
Duty and Responsibility::Prepares employee wage summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leaves, retirement savings and benefits.
Duty and Responsibility::Maintains payroll encumbrances on a timely basis and verifies for accuracy.
Assists with workers’ compensation annual audit.
Duty and Responsibility::Prepares the export files for Direct Deposit to be transmitted to the bank and provides scheduling for the uploading and approving of this file.
Duty and Responsibility::Maintains leave rollover is accurate and reconciled timely.
Duty and Responsibility::Assists employees with payroll issues by answering inquiries and providing information to resolve payroll discrepancies.
Duty and Responsibility::Collaborates with Human Resources to ensure the timely processing of new hires, terminations, and other changes.
Duty and Responsibility::Ensures compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable State and Federal agencies.
Duty and Responsibility::Other duties as assisnged.

The college's New and Expanding Industry Training office has earned national recognition for cooperative training efforts with area industries. Focused Industrial Training designs innovative educational programs for the service region's manufacturing sector.
An important function of the college is to provide educational programs on the pre-college level. Literacy Services offer adults the opportunity for meaningful social and occupational growth through Adult Basic Education (ABE), Human Resources Development (HRD), and the High School Equivalency Program (GED).
