• Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related mental health field.
• Currently licensed in Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
• Other current Texas licensure under the Behavioral Health Executive Council (BHEC) umbrella may be considered (e.g., Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
• Two years in providing direct counseling services to individuals and groups.

• Additional CE in areas of concern relevant to higher education environments.
• Licensed Professional Counselor—Supervisor (LPC-S), Licensed Clinical Social Worker—Supervisor (LCSW-S), etc.

Job Summary:
Therapeutic counseling, prevention and intervention services, promotion of mental health awareness, coordination of Accessibility Services. Responsibilities may vary from routine counseling services and related activities to crisis intervention and related counseling; mental health awareness presentations, workshops, trainings, and screenings; consultation with faculty and staff; referrals to off campus mental health providers; programming events on campus and/or in the community. Responsible for all aspects of Accessibility Services.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Provides individual and group therapeutic counseling to students in areas of concern such as personal, social, academic, career, and other related areas; case management related to counseling including planning, evaluation and recording of each counseling session.
2. Consults with faculty and staff regarding student concerns as needed or requested.
3. Submits monthly reports of counseling activity.
4. Reads, studies, and researches areas of relevance to counseling and attends trainings for Continuing Education (CE) required to keep Texas licensure current.
5. Program planning, staffing, and evaluation with other departmental staff.
6. Coordinates all aspects of a university accessibility services program.
7. Presents seminars, workshops, trainings, and screenings on mental health awareness to students, staff, faculty, and/or various other groups including orientation sessions, classroom presentations, and residential living professional staff and residential assistants. 0
8. Assists in planning, coordinating, promoting and evaluating various activities including orientation, mental health awareness, domestic violence awareness, sexual assault awareness, and substance abuse awareness.
9. Attends workshops, training sessions, and conferences on subjects related to responsibilities.
10. Consults with faculty and staff on certain disciplinary, substance abuse and other concerns related to students.

Other duties may be assigned to this position on a regular or occasional basis to respond to the needs of the university.

Required: Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with students of diverse backgrounds, faculty, staff, and administrators. Excellent written and oral communication skills and effective public relations skills. Demonstrated leadership skills. Sensitivity, creativity, and an understanding of persons and their interaction. Preferred: Greater skill levels in above areas. Experience in delivering direct services virtually. Knowledge of Electronic Health Records (EHR). Experience in teaching, personnel supervision, and management.

Physical Requirements:
This position typically works in an office environment, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk while using a computer. The role demands frequent use of hands and fingers to operate a keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment. Visual acuity is essential for reading and interpreting data on computer screens. Clear verbal communication skills are necessary for interacting with colleagues and employees. Additionally, the job may involve occasional mobility around the office and attending meetings, as well as frequent travel to attend off-site meetings and trainings. Prolonged periods of sitting.

Working Conditions:
Usual: Office conditions; exempt from overtime provisions. Position is Security Sensitive. Special: Presentations, trainings, or consultation in other locations on campus, local or nearby communities. Attendance and participation in community meetings and/or events off campus. Occasional evenings and/or weekends.

Supervises:
May supervise student employees, graduate students, and/or Licensed Professional Counselor—Associations (LPC-A) depending on licensure.

This position is classified as Security-Sensitive and is thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094, which authorize employers to obtain and review criminal history record information for applicants.
