Part-Time

The PEARLS (Patient-centered Explorations in Active Reasoning, Learning, and Synthesis) facilitator provides guidance of self-regulated learning and team dynamics to groups of 8-10 to first- and/or second-year students with the goal of students’ learning key concepts in biomedical science embedded in real patient cases. This is a part-time position requiring between 8-10 hours per week of student contact and faculty development.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Facilitates PEARLS throughout the academic year, as needed.
• Attends faculty development meetings for PEARLS facilitators.
• Reviews weekly formative essay exams submitted by students in the facilitator’s group.
• Meets individually with students in the facilitator’s group for mid-course feedback and as needed.
• Completes end of course student assessments.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• MD, DO, or PhD in biomedical science discipline.
• Three years’ experience teaching medical students or other health professions students.
• Must demonstrate the ability to contribute to a multi-disciplinary educational environment and establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, faculty, and students.
• Must have computing experience and proficiency with MS Word and Outlook.

• Experience with Learning Management Systems.
