Job Details
The Division of Mathematics and Science is currently accepting applications for additional adjunct instructors for course sections that may be potentially offered in the upcoming academic year. Courses may be offered during the day, afternoon, evening or weekends in a variety of formats (in-person, hybrid, online).
Applications will be accepted for those who can teach lecture and/or laboratory in the following area(s) or discipline(s):
- Anatomy and Physiology (one and two-semester sequences, and non-majors Human Biology)Biology (majors and non-majors, including a survey of disease, biotechnology & society, forensics or other related courses)Chemistry (Introductory and first year majors)Earth and Space Science (including environmental studies, and astronomy)Engineering Sciences General Physical ScienceMathematics (quantitative reasoning, statistical reasoning, applied algebra, pre-calculus or above)MicrobiologyNutrition & Environmental/Public HealthGeneral Physics (algebra or calculus based)
Instructors will work with the full-time faculty, program coordinator and/or Division Director to deliver credit course content and assessments required for outcome learning assessments for division courses. Instructors interested in teaching online instructional opportunities MUST reside in MD, PA, VA, or WV.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must have a Master's degree in the area or discipline of interest (or Master's degree in Education/Teaching with at least 12 graduate credits in a specific STEM related discipline: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, etc.). Two Years of relevant teaching experience is required. Applicants with only a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or who are current graduate students in relevant areas may be considered for laboratory instruction on a case by case basis.

Hagerstown Community College (HCC) was founded in 1946 as the first of its kind in Maryland. More than 100 programs of study are available for university transfer, career preparation, and personal enrichment. HCC also offers non-credit continuing education courses and customized training programs, as well as remedial and developmental courses to help students prepare for college-level offerings. Accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, HCC awards associate degrees, certificates, and letters of recognition.
HCC employs approximately 540 individuals each year in full and part-time positions. Hundreds of student workers and campus volunteers also serve the campus community.
