Job Description:


Oakton College is seeking a dedicated instructor for a skills course in Welding. This accelerated course introduces students to welding fundamentals, safety practices, and basic fabrication techniques. Students gain hands-on experience with SMAW and GMAW processes, along with oxy-fuel cutting. Emphasis is placed on safety, weld quality, and job readiness aligned with AWS standards.


Essential Functions of the Position:


  • Refine existing curriculum as applicable
  • Preparation of additional instructional materials (as appropriate)
  • Delivery of instruction, including being prepared for and conducting courses and, laboratories at scheduled times
  • Safety Management: Enforce rigorous safety regulations, ensure the proper use of protective gear, and maintain a hazard-free lab environment.
  • Assess and reflect on student progress
  • Classroom management
  • Collaboration with Oakton staff and host site
  • Compliance with departmental and institutional policies and procedures including but not limited to submission of final grades


Requirements:


  • Active welding credential
  • Active safety credential
  • 3-5+ years of professional experience in structural fabrication, pipe welding, or related fields
  • 2+ years of Instructional experience
  • Working knowledge of current AWS standards
  • Experience with on line learning platforms
  • Excellent communication, patience, and the ability and desire to effectively demonstrate manual skills to diverse student populations
