Scope of Position
The Ohio State University Medical Center?s mission is focused on integrating quality patient care, education, and research; the Patient Transportation Supervisor leads a team through cultivating, collaboration, enthusiasm, and mutual respect; functions as a key member of the health care team that provides transportation and supportive services in an in-patient setting directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, improving service levels, and decreasing costs; ensures patients and their families will experience the benefits of patient-focused care while navigating through our health system.
Position Summary
The Supervisor plans, organizes, manages and evaluates patient care and transportation activities; plans and develops strategic short, mid- and long-term goals and processes to enhance and improve the operations of the department to support the Medical Center?s mission, vision and values; evaluates and identifies achievements and problems in meeting goals; supervises, guides, coaches, and evaluates the work performance of patient transportation staff; promotes and ensures ongoing collaboration with other departments and areas that relate directly or indirectly to patient transport operations and services; under the direction of the department Director, develops, administers and manages unit budget plans; identifies, plans and initiates cost saving initiatives; participates in development of evidence-based standards of practice; identifies opportunities for improvement in transportation and organizational processes; assumes leadership in identifying and correcting factors contributing to problematic outcomes.
Minimum Education Required
HS Graduate or Equivalent or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications
Associates degree in business management or related field and/or equivalent combination of education; experience in health care environment with particular emphasis on patient transportation. Supervisory experience preferred, in a health care environment.
