Provide leadership and strategic planning for FSU's Medical Response Unit (MRU). Responsible for oversight and coordination of the training, clinical supervision, and field supervision for the FSU Medical Response Unit. Oversee MRU student officers' preparation of semester and annual reports for the unit. Develop and implement policies and procedures for the MRU with review by UHS's Medical Director and UHS's Associate Director of Clinic Operations. Provides input to University Health Services strategic planning related to area of responsibility. Responsible for oversight and coordination of the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) training program that meets national standards and academic curriculum requirements. Review MRU budget applications, equipment and supply requests, budget approvals, and fund disbursements. Seek out funding opportunities for grants and scholarships.
Develop and maintain partnerships and working relationships with University departments (FSU Police Department, FSU Emergency Management, FSU Student Government Association, FSU Environmental Health and Safety) and Tallahassee community partners (Tallahassee Fire Department, Leon County Emergency Medical Services, Tallahassee Police Department, Leon County Sheriff's Department, Tallahassee Community College Emergency Medical Services Department) to meet departmental goals and objectives. Engage community professionals to participate and assist in FSU MRU training program. Assist UHS's Associate Director of Clinic Operations with coordination and staffing health and wellness outreach events requiring onsite medical first responders.
Maintain regular communication with UHS administrative staff to ensure the appropriateness of medical services provided and program continuity. Participate in quality improvement activities, facility accreditation, and UHS/FSU committees as assigned (UHS Risk Management Committee, UHS Accreditation Committee, UHS QI Committee, FSU AED Committee, FSU Event Planning Committee). Establish and maintain professional affiliations to facilitate continuing education.
QualificationsBachelor's degree and four years of experience; or a high school diploma/equivalency and eight years of experience.
(Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)
State of Florida EMT or Paramedic License.
Current CPR Certification or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
Ability to interpret academic program requirements and provide advice.
Ability to utilize technical skills in the training, clinical, and field supervision of First Responders.
Knowledge of and ability to apply current principles, methods, and practices for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.
Knowledge of instructional systems development (ISD) models, applications, and best practices.
A valid State of Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
Position requires pre-employment PPD (TB) and successful completion of post hire OSHA training.

This is a soft money funded position, with renewal based on available funds and the needs of the University.
