ABOUT THE POSITIONS

The Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (GPS) is looking for three Program Managers for their Graduation Programs, Postdoctoral Studies, and the Life Science Summer Undergraduate Research Program (LSSURP) within the Medical School at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. The GPS Office is a core unit in the Medical School and serves to oversee and support graduate and professional training of students and postdoctoral fellows. The program manager’s responsibilities include designing and managing outreach, recruiting, and retention initiatives and program practices that build quality pipelines. They will create and implement programming elements and initiatives to enhance training and career development outcomes, as well as providing program experience support and analytics to measure success outcomes. These positions report to the Medical School's Associate Dean for Graduate and Postdoctoral Education (ADGPE) and work closely with a number of stakeholders. 

Program Manager - Graduate Programs - 9761ED (SS Pro 5-Student Engage & Dev) 

The Program Manager for Graduate Programs will create, evaluate and manage program and operational elements that directly and indirectly support and enhance graduate student recruitment, diversity, retention, training, and career development.

Program Manager - Postdoctoral Studies - 9761ED (SS Pro 5-Student Engage & Dev)

The Program Manager for Postdoctoral Studies operates to initiate, develop, implement and manage a variety of projects and programmatic elements to enhance recruitment, retention, research education and training efforts of postdoctoral fellows in research laboratories.

Program Manager - (LSSURP) - 9703ED (SS Pro 3-Student Engage & Dev)

The Program Manager for Life Science Summer Undergraduate Research Program (LSSURP) works for the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies to create, evaluate, manage and implement program and operational elements for the LSSURP and to manage pipeline development for recruiting and funneling promising students into the graduate research programs.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

9703ED (SS Pro 3-Student Engage & Dev)

  • BS degree in the biomedical sciences- or public health-related fields, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience -or- Master’s degree, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience

9761ED (SS Pro 5-Student Engage & Dev)

  • BS degree in the biomedical sciences- or public health-related fields, with a minimum of 6 years relevant work experience -or- Master's degree, with a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience

Preferred

9703ED (SS Pro 3-Student Engage & Dev)

  • Familiarity with Smartsheet, Qualtrics and Tableau
  • Experience in a higher education environment involving students and administration
  • Experience teaching or leading workshops for graduate students
  • Event and program management experience
  • Understanding of leadership principles either through application or training
  • Experience collecting survey and outcome data and gaining stakeholder input
     

9761ED (SS Pro 5-Student Engage & Dev) Questions:

 

  • MS or EdD degree in higher education, leadership, biomedical sciences or in education policy and analysis
  • Familiarity with Smartsheet, Qualtrics and Tableau
  • Understanding of biomedical postdoctoral training and NIH guidelines
  • Experience in a higher education environment involving students and administration
  • Experience working with postdoctoral fellows and scholars
  • Understanding of leadership principles either through application or training
  • Experience collecting survey and outcome data and gaining stakeholder input
