Primary Function of Organizational Unit:ECU Physicians is the multispecialty group practice of the Brody School of Medicine. With more than 430 providers and over 700,000 patient visits per year. ECU Physicians has over 24 clinical sites across Pitt County. The Department of ECU Physicians Administration provides infrastructure to support ECU Physicians faculty/staff and clinics to provide the highest quality and most compassionate health care to the people of eastern North Carolina while educating the next generation of health professionals to do the same.
Positions in this banded class perform skilled technical work in the administration of specialized procedures/studies used for the diagnosis and treatment of patients– ultrasound, cardiac graphics and nuclear medicine. These positions perform diagnostic testing in a variety of clinical settings. Duties performed include: taking, developing, and interpreting test results for physician review; summarizing and communicating technical findings; and using and maintaining technical equipment effectively. Work involves working directly with patients – preparing patients for procedures, positioning patients and providing instruction. Work may include training and/or supervising others.
Minimum Education/Experience:Associate’s degree in medical sonography, cardio/vascular sonography, or related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require additional training, certifications, or licenses. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
