Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited institution in photography;
- Minimum of three (3) years of photographic experience;
- Proficiency with equipment, tools and supplies used for taking, processing and enhancing digital imagery, including cameras, lenses, lighting and image processing software;
- Proven knowledge of theory and techniques of modern photography, and the technical ability to obtain intended effects through selection of appropriate camera angles, picture composition, filtering, lighting or other treatment necessary for indoor and outdoor environments;
- Proven knowledge and experience working in photo editing software applications and digital asset management systems;
- Understanding of copyright and privacy laws;
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population – both internal and external to the institution;
- Ability to work creatively under the pressures of deadlines;
- Excellent time management and organizational skills;
- Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written;
- The following is preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution in photography.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Providing photography and post-production digital editing services for promotional and marketing purposes;
- Managing the IRSC photo archives and digital asset management system;
- Fulfilling requests for new and historic photography;
- Collaborating with the design team and recommending artistic direction, as it relates to imagery, for use in creative projects;
- Serving as contributing editor to the IRSC Instagram page.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The specific responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Taking photographs as needed for publicity, publications, website, social media, special events and other College activities, and complete all post-production processing;
- Maintaining orderly photo and negative archives, and digital file organization using Libris (o other DAM) and electronic storage devices;
- Fulfilling requests for photographs for use in presentations, exhibits, research and publication;
- Assisting in producing and presenting student and other testimonials;
- Contributing to the IRSC Instagram and other social media platforms;
- Maintaining photography and graphics arts equipment and supplies;
- Working frequently during evening and weekend hours;
- Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
