Princeton University

A postdoctoral or more senior research position is available in the Myhrvold laboratory. The Myhrvold Lab at Princeton University develops cutting-edge, CRISPR-based technologies to study RNA viral infection and RNA transcription, regulation, and localization. We are also developing CRISPR-based viral diagnostics and antiviral therapies with the aim of creating a rapid development platform for new viral diagnostics and therapies, in close collaboration with Pardis Sabeti's lab at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. The Myhrvold lab continues to advance CRISPR-based technologies such as SHERLOCK, CARMEN, CARVER, and SHINE. We have applied several of these technologies to aid in the global fight against COVID-19. Our work is supported by a variety of funders, including the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). The successful candidate will join a highly interactive group, with strengths in bioengineering, genetics, molecular biology and biochemistry. The position offers an excellent opportunity to participate in a dynamic research environment in an exciting, fast-paced field of research, with opportunities for international travel. Your work will be central to several major research projects, including collaborations with other top labs at Princeton University, The Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, and Harvard Medical School. We welcome applications from researchers whose past experience is in other fields; we believe that diverse backgrounds make us stronger. The ideal applicant will be highly motivated, have a strong academic record, research experience in genetics, molecular biology and/or biochemistry, and fluent English language and writing skills. We are particularly excited by applicants who bring new ideas or approaches into the lab. Experience with one or more of the following is a plus: CRISPR-Cas13, mammalian cell culture and viral infection; bioengineering; molecular biology, RNA biochemistry, high-throughput genetics, microscopy; flow cytometry or next-generation sequencing. A Ph.D. is required. This position is for one year with the possibility of renewal contingent on satisfactory performance and funding. To apply, please submit a cover letter, CV, and three letters of recommendation at https://www.princeton.edu/acad-positions/position/21001 . Applications will be reviewed promptly until the position is filled. This position is subject to the University's background check policy. More information about the laboratory can be found here, https://molbio.princeton.edu/people/cameron-myhrvold. Informal inquiries are also welcome: cmyhrvol@princeton.edu . No recruiters and no telephone calls please. Princeton University is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
