Prior counseling within a university setting.
Previous experience working in a career services office.
Experience recruiting, training, and supervising other counselors.

This position will assist the Assistant Director by counseling students and alumni in career education, development, and planning, as well as supporting the expansion and marketing of those services.Job Duties
Provide a wide range of career counseling services to the diverse Texas State community of first-year and other undecided students.
Career counsel individuals, often on a continuing basis, for issues such as occupational information, the career decision-making process, choosing a major, goal-setting, internships, graduate school, professional preparation, career-related stress, and related personal concerns.
Understand relevant online tools, databases. Administer and discuss career assessments. Keep confidential case files.
Recognize the need to refer students to the Counseling Center and other mental health resources. Make referrals to other departments and agencies as needed.
Develop and present career and professional development workshops across campus, assist with career fairs and other events for students, faculty, and staff. Serve on university teams and committees, as requested.
Participate in case conferencing and other professional development opportunities, aimed at improving full-time and part-time staff’s career counseling skills. Help track and assess area performance.
Assist in recruitment, training, and support of graduate intern counselors, as well as other related outreach, resource development, and research.
