This is a non-bargaining, exempt, Grade 29 position. Work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, with some evenings and weekend hours. The position is located in Rockville, MD.
Under supervision and/or direction, an incumbent is responsible for coordinating the Achieving the Promise Academy (ATPA) embedded support program. An incumbent supervises ATPA coaches in ATPA activities and plans, implements, and evaluates the ATPA program in collaboration with the ATPA director and various academic departments.
Working relationships are with the APTA director, senior College leadership, deans and chairs of academic and student affairs, ATPA coaches, College faculty and staff, and students and parents to exchange information and support program activities.
Duties include but are not limited to:
•Manage the ATPA embedded coaching program across campuses under the leadership of
the ATPA director; plan, develop, organize, staff, implement, revise, and problem solve to
achieve program objectives.
•Serve as embedded coach in two sections per semester in field of expertise.
•Establish action items and timetables to achieve desired results. Work with the director to
allocate human and financial resources.
•Work closely with deans, department chairs, and faculty in various College departments to
accomplish measurable student success objectives.
•Ensure that coaches are providing opportunities for students to attend events, academic
demonstrations, or other social and educational experiences.
•Ensure that coaches are providing opportunities for students to access college student
support services such as academic tutoring, counseling and advising, disability support
services, financial aid, student employment services, and student life.
•Use a variety of communication efforts to reach out to parents, students, and other
internal and external stakeholders regarding program benefits.
•Meet regularly with designated faculty, department chairs, and deans to maintain a
positive working relationship and insure that students in the program are fully integrated
into the academic area and associated support networks.
•Performs related duties as required.Job Description
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in English or other discipline in which embedded coaching is offered. Degree acquired from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of three years full-time or equivalent part-time college/university teaching. Training and/or evaluating, tutoring or academic support at the college level.
- Knowledge of academic coaching.
- Knowledge and understanding of barriers to student success.
- Knowledge and understanding of program coordination and management, and metrics collection and analysis.
- Knowledge of various communication techniques.
- Skill in verbal and written communication to include delivering presentations.
- Skill in program/project management, problem-solving, decision-making, organizing and prioritizing work.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to create and maintain program metrics, develop and present workshops, seminars, and other events.
- Ability to create and produce program materials, coordinate multiple program activities, and travel locally.
- Ability to use various communication techniques and use a computer and appropriate software applications.
- Ability to use and train in instructional technology.
- Ability to effectively maintain collaborative work relationships with students, parents, and MC academic leadership and faculty.
- Ability to occasionally work evening and weekend hours.
- Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in English.
- Program coordination and/or management experience.
