Postdoctoral Research Associate (AC)

Job description

Description

The Center for High Angular Resolution Astronomy (CHARA) at Georgia State University (GSU) is seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Associate.  CHARA operates the CHARA Array, an optical/IR, long baseline interferometer located at Mount Wilson Observatory in California, north of Los Angeles - http://chara.gsu.edu/.  We are planning a re-design and the construction of the CLIMB beam combiner using a new, low noise detector, and the postdoctoral associate would be involved in all facets of this initiative, including optical design, implementation, installation of the new camera, and development of software for instrument control and data reduction.

This position is fully supported for three years. The workplace will be the Mount Wilson Observatory north of Los Angeles. The majority of effort will be devoted to the CLIMB project, but the associate will be encouraged to pursue independent research with the CHARA Array interferometer.
