Roosevelt University
RICH AND VIBRANT HISTORY
Roosevelt University was founded on principle: Higher education should be available to all academically qualified students, regardless of class, racial or ethnic origin, gender or age. This 1945 “experiment” has been a success from the start. Today, Roosevelt is a national leader in educating socially conscious citizens for active and dedicated lives as leaders in their professions and their communities.
The University offers diverse, differentiated academic programs at two campuses—both located in thriving commercial and cultural districts—and online. The northwest suburban Schaumburg Campus is a hub of environmental and scientific study, home to the College of Pharmacy. On the lakefront Chicago Campus downtown, a 32-story vertical campus houses classrooms, labs, student and academic services, and student residences. And the men and women Roosevelt Lakers sports teams compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
RELEVANT, INNOVATIVE AND PROGRESSIVE ACADEMICS
Roosevelt’s collaborative learning environment, based around small classes, fosters supportive student–faculty relationships. More than 1,000 outstanding faculty and staff provide more than 6,600 students of varied backgrounds and ages the tools to succeed in the professional marketplace—through classroom and online course work, and through experiential and service-learning opportunities.
Students may select from 70 undergraduate and 50 master’s and doctoral programs across six colleges. Relevant curricula are developed with a focus on entrepreneurship and innovation—for example:
- ARTS AND SCIENCES, the University’s largest college—Doctor of Psychology, PhD in industrial/organizational psychology, the first social justice major in the Chicago area, and home to many of the University’s centers and institutes, including Mansfield Institute for Social Justice and Transformation
- BUSINESS, among first U.S. business schools to sign the pledge of the UN-PRIME—master’s degree in real estate, the region’s first master’s in accounting forensics, and sustainability-focused courses on responsible business practices
- EDUCATION—undergraduate and graduate programs in teaching, counseling, and leadership, and Office of Community Engagement that targets communities to promote child literacy and college readiness
- PERFORMING ARTS, Music and Theatre conservatories—new BFA in musical theatre with dance emphasis, and fast-track MA in directing, a three-summer program for high school theatre teachers
- PHARMACY, Midwest’s only three-year, year-round Doctor of Pharmacy degree program—offering health screenings, education, and flu vaccinations, plus new dual Master of Public Health degree opportunity
- PROFESSIONAL STUDIES—accelerated paralegal studies degree, graduate program in training and development, Illinois’ only master of science in hospitality and tourism management, the first bachelor’s degree in sustainability studies, plus numerous fast-track bachelor’s degrees for adult students
