The University of Texas at Tyler offers a unique experience within the prestigious University of Texas System; an experience focused on innovation in teaching and learning methods as well as in the University’s operations.  UT Tyler strives to remain on the cutting-edge of pedagogical and research techniques, offering faculty members support to grow as scholars and educators.  For example, the University recently launched The Center for Teaching Excellence & Innovation, which was started by a small group of UT Tyler faculty and grew into a University-wide initiative.  Our Office of Research and Technology Transfer assists faculty in their scholarly endeavors, and total UT Tyler research revenues and expenditures have more than doubled since 2008.  Most importantly, potential faculty members will find that UT Tyler offers a friendly, collegial environment in which to work.


Founded as an upper-level institution in 1971, UT Tyler today enrolls more than 7,500 students and provides undergraduate through doctoral education.  The University is made up of six colleges and offers over 80 degree programs.  With a 17:1 student-to-faculty ratio, the University prides itself on creating an environment conducive to building strong relationships between students and faculty.

UT Tyler’s beautiful, 259-acre campus provides a renewing, picturesque location in which to work.  The grounds include a lake as well as natural, open spaces to enjoy.  The campus also offers opportunities for enrichment, entertainment, and recreation through the R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center, the Herrington Patriot Center, and 15 exciting Division III athletic teams.
