Position Summary: The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for the overall management and administration of the Financial Aid Office (FAO). The Director is charged with keeping current on all federal, state and institutional rules and regulations and training the Financial Aid Office staff to implement these regulations into office policy and procedure.
The Director of Financial Aid is a department head and supervises financial aid personnel with a strong commitment to client service and a collaborative approach to problem solving. This position is responsible for all aspects of processing and committing the University to financial aid decisions. The Director must collaborate with other campus units to provide appropriate services to both currently enrolled students and prospective students. The position is responsible for maintaining a "student-centered operation" and for providing vision to the office.
Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications): A Master's degree and at least five years of experience as a financial aid professional in a post-secondary institution at the supervisory level.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills: Seven to ten years of progressive experience in financial aid at the supervisory level at a post-secondary institution is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree with a preference toward a degree in business administration, accounting, or related field. Experience with Banner is highly desirable. Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical, management, and organizational skills are also preferred.
