About the Position
A growing and innovative private East Coast University is seeking a Controller to lead the strategic financial initiatives for the organization. This executive position will play a key role in supporting the tactical, strategic, and operational objectives of the University. Reporting to the CFO the Controller will oversee the accounting operations of the University, liaise with the external auditors on all audits and compliance activities, ensure that core financial processes and internal controls are maintained, and promote the highest standards of customer service. The Controller supervises approximately five professional and administrative support staff and oversees a budget of $30 million.
A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in large, complex organizations, including significant managerial experience; experience in the finance division of a higher education institution or other not-for-profit organization is strongly preferred. A Certified Public Accountant licenses with a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required is required.
Additional qualifications include: a strong work ethic; ability to build high performing teams, leadership by example and managing change effectively with agility and adaptive approaches to issues and concerns. He or she must demonstrate the ability to establish a vision, goals and metrics for success. Excellent oral and written communication skills, proficiency in use of data management and web-based software, ability and ease in preparing, writing, and editing reports are all required.
