Swarthmore College, a highly selective private four-year liberal arts college in suburban Philadelphia, invites applications and nominations for the position of Associate Dean for Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Development.
The Associate Dean for Diversity, Inclusion, and Community Development will provide direct leadership for the implementation of programs that will develop an intentional community in support of the College’s strong commitment to diversity, inclusivity and engagement of all students. Working collaboratively with the Provost’s Office, Human Resources and colleagues in the Dean’s Office including the Directors of the Black Cultural Center and Intercultural Center, the Associate Dean will help to foster dialogue, collaboration and education among students, faculty, and staff. Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Associate Dean will oversee Residential Life, Student Activities, Alcohol and Drug Education, International Student Advising, Religious and Spiritual Life, Greek Life, and New Student Orientation.
Strong candidates will have substantial administrative and supervisory experience within student affairs, with a demonstrated focus on diversity and community-building. Candidates who possess the qualities and experiences the College seeks will likely come from higher education; others who can show evidence of their ability to work collaboratively and successfully within a college environment are also welcome to apply.
