Carlow University seeks an Assistant Professor, Tenure Track in the Early Childhood Education Program within the School of Education.
Carlow University is a comprehensive, women-centered Catholic University located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 1.Teach the equivalent of 12 credits a semester – 24 per academic year.
2.Teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels
3.Teach assigned classes in accordance with current course outlines.
4.Mentor and supervise student teachers.
5.Supervise graduate research in early childhood education.
6.Modify curriculum and/or teaching style based on assessment results and professional development experiences. Document modifications based on assessment results.
7.Review and update course outlines, text selection and syllabi.
8.Propose and develop new courses as appropriate.
9.Advise undergraduate and graduate teacher education candidates.
10.Teach at regional campus sites when needed.
11.Assist in developing course rotations and schedules.
12.Attend all university-wide, school, and departmental meetings as scheduled.
13.Attend professional developmental meetings and participate in professional development activities.
14.Serve on committees, university task forces, workshops, and other university improvement activities, as needed.
15.Collaborate with school districts and early childhood agencies/centers for field experiences and student placements.
16.Demonstrate and reflect an understanding of and commitment to the mission and core values of Carlow University and the Sisters of Mercy.
17.Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate.
1.Doctorate in early childhood education or child development.
2.Experience teaching at the college/university level.
3.Expertise and research in several of the following areas: language and communication development, logical-mathematical thinking in young children, self-expression, aesthetics and play as learning, families and culture; family-centered practice; early intervention; social-emotional development including self-regulation and executive function; supervision of early childhood programs, technology and digital media literacy.
4.Candidate must demonstrate technological proficiency and be comfortable teaching in a digital learning environment.
5.Candidate must also have excellent interpersonal skills and experience in advising/counseling or mentoring.
