The American Dental Education Association (ADEA) is the voice of dental education. The mission of ADEA is to lead individuals and institutions of the dental education community to address contemporary issues impacting dental education and dental research, higher education, and the delivery of oral health care for the health of the public. ADEA is seeking an experienced professional for the role of Director of Research in the Educational Research and Analysis (ERA) portfolio of the ADEA Policy Center.
The Director of Research conducts annual and ad hoc surveys in the various areas of dental education, coordinates collection and reporting activities carried out by ADEA ERA research staff, consultants and interns. The Director of Research will take the lead on various ERA survey projects including, coordinating and monitoring the annual survey data, the ERA produced Survey Summary highlights and tables of the annual survey data, and the facilitate and coordinate public survey data displays in standard reports, electronic dashboards and ADEA data website. This position will coordinate and maintain vendor contract project management details including business side documentation, testing, data verification and security. The Director of Research manages the work of the Research Manager, coordinates work for ad hoc surveys with the Research Associate, and supervises research interns. Additionally, s/he will provide technical assistance to Dental Schools in completing surveys and represents ERA at meetings regarding dental education policy, higher education research and policy analysis.
A graduate degree in public policy, educational policy, or a related field is required. A minimum of 5 years professional research experience is preferred as is experience in government, a research organization, or a university. Competence to undertake survey design and writing assignments with minimal supervision is required. Experience using SPSS or SAS is desired. Supervisory experience and travel are required.
