Nature of Work: The Office Manager is a highly responsible position that provides leadership for the operation of the College of Education. Responsibilities include maintaining academic, personnel, and student records; interacting with the public and responding to issues presented to the office. The Office Manager also coordinates the work of the administrative support staff to ensure that training is up-to-date and administrative protocols are handled.
Training and Experience: Applicants for the position should possess a bachelor's degree in Office Administration or Business Education; a master's degree is preferred, or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Successful completion of courses in business communications, data processing/software applications, typewriting and general office procedures. Proficiency in MS Office and the ability to operate office machines, word processors and personal computers, good oral and written communication skills, the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, associates, administrators, students, and the general public are required.
Illustrative Examples of Work: Coordinates and supervises the Dean's Office; coordinates the work of the administrative support staff in the College of Education; works collaboratively with all members of the COE Leadership Team; keeps varied administrative records and maintains fiscal records; prepares agendas for meetings; completes public records, questionnaires, documents, schedules, tables, records and forms; maintains appropriate databases for the College of Education; serves as the meeting and conference coordinator; makes travel reservations, coordinates arrangements, and initiates appropriate documentation; schedules appointments for the Dean; assists with and keeps accurate budget information for the College; composes routine letters and other correspondence; operates varies office machines and maintains supply inventory. Performs other duties as required.
