UC Riverside Entomology Department is seeking a Staff Research Associate I to assist with various projects focusing on research of insect olfaction and behavior with an emphasis on mosquito olfaction and behavior. UCR is the premier research University in Inland Southern California and we are seeking the best to join us. Within this exciting environment, rich with growth opportunities, you will perform duties to include maintenance of Drosophila, Anopheles, Aedes and Culex mosquito colonies; perform behavioral assays with olfactory system in insects, especially mosquitoes and Drosophila, in laboratory or field conditions; ordering of lab supplies and general lab inventory management and perform data analysis to support other projects. This position required driving so one will need to have a valid California Driver's License and will be added to the University DMV pull program for validation.
1) This position requires education and/or experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in biological sciences.
2) Insectary and mosquito husbandry.
3) Mosquito semi-field and field behavior assays.
4) Laboratory behavior with mosquitoes.
5) Knowledge of standard software's such as Excel, Word, Power Point.
1) Mosquito artificial membrane feeding systems.
2) Drosophila behavioral assays.
3) Field trapping studies of insects.
4) Laboratory supplies ordering and management.
