The Social Worker/Social Worker Assistant, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team, provides social work clinical services, including discharge planning, to individuals and families of all ages who come to the Emergency Department for care.
The Social Worker also provides consultation to staff of other Hospital units regarding psychosocial issues and community resources if the clinical backup social work staff are unavailable.
The Social Worker must have an MSW from an accredited social work graduate program. The Social Work Assistant must have a Bachelor's degree in social work or related field with extensive relevant experience. If the Social Worker has a Master's degree, he/she must obtain New York State certification within one year of employment.
