The Department of Epidemiology, in both the College of Public Health and Health Professions and the College of Medicine at the University of Florida Health Sciences Center, invites applications for a full-time established investigator with an actively funded research program in cancer epidemiology. The successful candidate, under the Cancer Preeminence Initiative, will lead an expansion of cancer epidemiology with the goal of accelerating research on cancer causes, control and prevention across the six Colleges of the University of Florida Health Science Center (Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health and Health Professions, Dentistry, Veterinary Medicine) and the UF Health Cancer Center. The Director of the Division of Cancer Epidemiology will take a leading position with a team at the UF Health Cancer Center in the development of a successful application for NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center status. Furthermore, the candidate is expected to work with other faculty in the Department of Epidemiology to design, build and maintain the infrastructure for a "Healthy Florida Cohort" longitudinal study. This epidemiological cohort will identify risk factors among Floridians for developing chronic physical and mental health problems such as cancer, hypertension, diabetes, depression, infectious diseases, as well as drug use and addiction. Opportunities for clinical practice are available through our Health Science Center Colleges.

The Director will collaborate with a robust cancer research program ongoing at the UF Health Cancer Center and across the University. Academic appointment and tenure will be in the Department of Epidemiology at the associate professor or full professor rank commensurate with experience and accomplishment. Compensation includes an excellent benefits package with start up funds for research programs.

Advertised Salary:

Salary is negotiable; commensurate with experience and qualifications. 

Minimum Requirements:

MD or PhD in an appropriate area of specialization. Faculty with professional (MD) and/or PhD degrees at Associate or Full Professor rank are encouraged to apply. 

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate is an established investigator with a strong reputation in scholarship, as evidenced by a track record of independent cancer research funding, and the expertise and desire to build a research and training program in cancer control or epidemiology.Experience in research program leadership and administration, research education and training is desirable.
