Assistant/Associate Professor, Accounting
Position Summary: The Division of Accounting, Finance, MIS & Economics in the College of Business at Governors State University seeks applications for a tenure-track faculty position in accounting beginning in either Fall 2016 or Spring 2017. The successful candidate will be qualified to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in financial accounting with a preference for candidates who may also be able to teach taxation or business law. We seek candidates with outstanding teaching skills, interest in advising non-traditional or diverse student populations, evidence of a potential or distinguished record of scholarship consistent with tenure-track expectations, and substantive professional service via projects, committees or other leadership roles. Governors State University is the only regional, public, comprehensive university in Chicago's south suburban area, serving approximately 7,750 students annually. Minimum Qualifications: - PhD or DBA in Accounting from an AACSB accredited school. - Candidates with a a JD/LLM with a Graduate Degree in Accounting, or JD/LLM plus CPA, or Graduate Degree in Taxation may also be considered. - Ability to write and publish in professional or academic journals. - Ability to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in financial accounting. - Interest in developing and teaching online (web-based) courses - Applicant must meet AACSB standards for scholarship as aAcademically Qualified (AQ)a or aScholarly Academic (SA)a.
Preferred Qualifications: - Record of publishing in academic or professional journals - Professional or managerial experience. - Experience developing and teaching online (web-based) courses. - Teaching experience in graduate and undergraduate courses in financial accounting and at least one additional area (tax or business law). - Knowledge of AACSB accreditation requirements.
Work Schedule: Nine-month faculty contract; Summer teaching is optional, for additional compensation.
