Job Description: POSITION TITLE:CUSTOMER SERVICE ASSOCIATE II TPBOOK-CSA201 STATUS:Part time / Seasonal DEPARTMENT:Bookstore DIVISION:Administrative Services CLASSIFICATION:Non-exempt UNION:Non-union REPORTS TO:Bookstore Manager PLACEMENT: Temporary/Seasonal Level II MINIMUM PAY RATE:$10.91 per hour Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. POSITION SUMMARY This is a seasonal/rush position to assist with retail operations of the Joliet Junior College Bookstore approximately 3 - 6 weeks in length at the beginning/end of each semester. Provide excellent customer service and assistance as necessary and directed. Receive payment, make change accurately and obtain credit authorization as necessary for retail transactions. Assist with upkeep, organizing and stocking retail shop, setting displays, and inventory. Requires standing, walking, bending, climbing throughout the entire work day and the ability to lift, stack and maneuver objects. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1.Provide excellent customer service to all Bookstore patrons. 2.Assist with all cash register operations including cash/check/credit card transactions, financial aid/job training grants/scholarships, refunds/exchanges, book buyback, department/desk copy charges, etc. 3.Assist with receiving and directing of customers, answer telephones, handle inquiries, and other customer service functions. 4.Work with multiple database systems: BookLog, Datatel. 5.Assist with physical inventory throughout the year. 6.Assist with merchandising/display of books and all merchandise in store. 7.Assist with general maintenance of store. 8.Assist at North Campus site as needed during rush. 9.Perform other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1.High School Diploma or equivalent. 2.Cash handling experience. 3.Ability to lift minimum of 25 lbs. 4.Self-motivated, energetic team player with multi-tasking abilities. 5.Basic math aptitude and strong written/oral communication skills. 6.Ability to operate basic office equipment including PC/cash register. 7.Schedule availability must include morning, afternoons, evenings and extended hours during rush. 8.Must be available to work required weeks during rush periods. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 1.Previous retail experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS 1.Ability to stand for extended periods of time. 2.Ability to lift minimum of 25 lbs. 3.Ability to travel between campus locations.
