Job Description:

Alfred State is currently seeking applicants for an instructor of Culinary Arts at our Wellsville NY campus.  This position will instruct students in lab activities and lecture classes.  Instruction of a la carte, institutional, and quantity food preparation.  Train students in the proper techniques of food handling, equipment usage, sanitation, safety, menu planning and execution, dining room service, and other lab duties.  Adhere to all aspects of the curriculum as assigned.  Participate in department, campus, and college events, as well as professional development.  The instructor will approach the daily activities as a working chef as well as an educator.

Requirements:

An Associates degree in culinary arts is required, along with seven (7) years of industry experience.  Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in an associated discipline will be given preference.  Candidates that are certified by the American Culinary Federation or the National Restaurant Association for ServSafe Managerial Instructor/Proctor will also be given preference over applicants with out the certifications.

Application Instructions:

Finalists for this position will demonstrate cooking and knife skills for the committee.

The finalists will also present a 30 minute lecture on a topic provided by the committee. This presentation should be geared to an audience of culinary students and must include Power Point and/or another type of advanced technology.
