The Education Department at the College of Saint Benedict - Saint John’s University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position for the 2015-2016 academic year beginning Fall 2015. Responsibilities associated with this position may include: teaching undergraduate courses in elementary language arts methods, children’s literature, teaching reading, and content area reading; supervising students in the field; developing and maintaining relationships with schools; participating in national and state accreditation; engaging in scholarly and creative professional activities; and serving on departmental and college committees. The ideal candidate will have an earned doctorate (or ABD upon application) in literacy or a related field, a minimum of a master’s degree in reading, and successful K-6 teaching experience Preference will be given to those holding a K-6 teaching license or are licensable. The successful candidate must be an effective communicator in both oral and written language, be grounded in constructivism and willing to be part of a team. Personal characteristics should include initiative, well-honed interpersonal skills, as well as a record of successful teaching experiences.
