Assistant professor (tenure-track) with expertise in Latin American literatures and cultures. We seek a colleague who is at home in modern Latin American literature (including visual culture) generally. Although the primary scholarly focus is open, we expect a colleague whose scholarship and teaching are well-grounded historically and alive to Latin America’s connections to the rest of the world. A strong secondary interest in creative writing would be especially welcome. As an Assistant Professor of Spanish, within the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures, the successful candidate will also be a core member of the Latin American Studies Program, will participate fully in the rich interdisciplinary culture of Wesleyan University, and will seek ways to integrate the field across the arts, humanities, and (social and natural) sciences on campus and in the broader society. Requirements: PhD in hand or very near completion; native or near-native fluency in Spanish; evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching. Typical teaching load: two seminars and two (intermediate or advanced) language courses per year. Effective July 1, 2015.
