Vice President for Business and Finance
Armstrong State University invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for Business and Finance. Armstrong seeks an experienced and collaborative leader who will support the university’s mission, strategic plan, and goals.
Responsible directly to the President, and serving as a key member of the university’s executive leadership team, the Vice President for Business and Finance will provide leadership in safeguarding, developing, and maintaining the university’s financial and physical assets, as well as human resources.

Earned master’s degree (minimum) in a field related to business administration, finance, or accounting, or earned bachelor’s degree and related certification, such as Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Certified Financial Manager, or Certified Government Financial Manager.
A minimum of ten years of progressive administrative experience in the management of fiscal operations.
Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze complex financial and accounting data.
Experience in strategic planning, long-range financial planning, budgeting, and financial reporting.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial standards established by GASB and FASB.
Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated experience and success forming and maintaining public/private partnerships.
Leadership skills that encourage teamwork and participative decision-making.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively across constituencies, including employees within the division, students, staff, faculty, senior administrators, foundation board members, community and business partners, and external agencies.
Demonstrated commitment to cultivating and managing a diverse workforce.
Superior coaching and mentoring abilities.

Essential Duties Summary :
Manage the units responsible for the university’s business, financial, and administrative services, which include budgeting, accounting, purchasing, payroll, student account services, facilities, human resources, campus police, and auxiliary services.
Oversee the organization, direction, and operation of all financial activities, including long-term strategic planning.
Develop and administer policies and procedures in collaboration with the President and other senior administrators to ensure operational efficiency and the financial integrity of the university.
Provide clear, understandable, and transparent financial data and budget information to support decision-making and ensure timely and accurate submission of budgets, financial reports, and performance measures.
Work collaboratively with internal constituencies to support the strategic goals of the university.
Represent the university to external constituencies, including foundation boards, community and business partners, committees, and members of the University System of Georgia.
Advise the president and other senior administrators on shaping fiscal policies to assure operational efficiency and the financial strength of the university.
Provide leadership in safeguarding, developing and maintaining the university’s physical facilities and all monetary and non-monetary assets.
Serve as an ex-officio member of all university cooperative organizations.
