ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF GRAPHIC DESIGN (F117)
SCHOOL: School of Fine Arts SUPERVISED BY: Dean of the School of Fine Arts RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Professor of Graphic Design will teach undergraduate graphic design and foundation art and design courses, and provide student support and advising in the School of Fine Arts. As a faculty member of WBU he/she will represent the University’s academic and spiritual emphasis to the students, faculty, staff and the community in a manner consistent with the University’s mission and purpose. SPECIFIC TASKS AND DUTIES: 1. Teach undergraduate graphic design, foundation art and design courses. Must be able to teach a variety of levels. 2. Strong commitment to teaching and development of a program track in graphic design, plus active student recruitment and retention. 3. Service on faculty committees and advising. Engage in ongoing personal professional and faculty development, creative and scholarly activity. 4. Mentorship of part-time faculty in area of expertise. QUALIFICATIONS: A commitment of Christian Higher education and in agreement with the purposes and philosophy of Christian higher education as promoted by the Baptist General Convention of Texas in general and Wayland Baptist University in particular. Education, Certification and License: Masters of Fine Art (MFA) in Graphic Design (MFA in a related field with significant professional graphic design experience will be considered). Experience & Knowledge: 1. Professional experience in the field of Graphic Design. 2. Experience and portfolio in the Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe Illustrator, Flash and InDesign. 3. Knowledge of 3-D modeling, use of Lightwave, Maya 3-D, 3-D Studio Max and Cinema 4-D 4. Experience in online instruction preferred. 5. Must be proficient with computer software and educational projection equipment. 6. Dynamic classroom presence and teaching ability, excellent communication and people skills and an appreciation of Christian higher education. Skills & Abilities: 1. Skill in the entire Adobe Suite software. 2. Must have a strong commitment to academic rigor and teaching. 3. The ability to communicate well with students and colleagues, and an appreciation for Christian higher education. 4. Must be proficient with computer software and educational projection equipment. Additional Requirements: Must have no delinquent or defaulted Student Loans. A credit check may be conducted to insure the requirement is met.
