The Vice President is responsible for one or more major College divisions and serves as a member of the President's Cabinet.  He/she incorporates innovative practices into plans and strategies and collaborates with other College and University executives, and outside organizations as needed, to develop appropriate policy and acquire resources.  He/she is a dynamic leader of an executive team responsible for personnel, budget, operations, and communications.

Reporting to the President, the Vice President for Finance and Administration is responsible for the planning and day-to-day management of all financial and administrative functions of the College.  The Vice President serves as a member of the President's executive team and works collaboratively with other executives, students, faculty, and staff as well as the College's external constituents.  The Vice President ensures that all College and University fiscal and administrative policies are implemented and that all appropriate procedures are codified, implemented, and reinforced.  The Vice President provides regular financial management reports to the President and to those responsible for financial management operations at the University and is responsible for implementing best practices to enhance the administrative and fiscal services of the College. 

The Vice President provides vision, leadership, and administrative oversight for the following major functions:
- Administrative Affairs:  risk management and insurance, campus public safety, environmental health and safety, records management, regulatory compliance, and administrative processes. 
- Business and Accounting:  development of annual operating budget and implementation, development of multi-year (3-5 year) budget projections, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general accounting, grant and contract accounting, purchasing, travel, payroll, and asset management.   
- Facilities:  management of buildings, grounds, infrastructure, and utilities; planning and coordination of capital projects.
- Human Resources:  employment services, employee relations, benefits administration, organizational and professional development.   
- Auxiliary Services (related not-for-profit entities):  oversight of bookstore, cultural affairs, conferences and events, parking services, and campus dining services.


This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan.  All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.  Additional qualifications are defined below by the College.


Candidates should have a minimum of ten (10) years of leadership in higher education or progressively responsible experience in senior administrative and financial management positions.  Minimum qualifications include an advanced degree; proven or demonstrated commitment to diversity; demonstrated ability to identify problems, develop alternative solutions, make decisions, achieve consensus on a course of action, and implement programs; excellent written and oral communications skills; and knowledge of computing.
