Reporting to the Director of Student Activities and Leadership Development, the Office of Campus Life seeks an Associate Director of Leadership Development and Greek Affairs to serve as the primary advisor for Greek Life at NYIT. Specifically, the Associate Director, will advise Inter Greek Council, plan Greek week and Greek retreats, provide leadership development training and help foster Greek recruitment on campus with regional chapters. He/she will supervise one Graduate Assistant and one Coordinator of Leadership Development, coordinate The National Society for Leadership and Success chapter at NYIT and co-advise the Executive Board, assist in the recruitment, selection, supervision and evaluation of student staff in the programs and services sponsored by the Offices of Student Activities and Leadership Development and support diversity and multicultural initiatives and programs. Candidate will oversee departmental web development and social media maintenance, assess, develop and implement risk management training and procedures. The candidate will support and help manage all logistics of orientation and assist with orientation leader training. The Associate Director will co-prepare and manage financial activities, including office-operating budgets, programming budgets, contracts, and business operations in the Office of Student Activities and Leadership Development, assist the Director of Student Activities in administering college policies and procedures related to the management of the student activities and recreation programs, serve as the primary logistics administrator for over 25 student organizations, assist in the planning and chaperoning of student events, serve on campus committees including, but not limited to; Orientation, Welcome Week, Senior Week, Family Weekend, and Elections Committee and create funding sources through grants and other non-tuition revenue opportunities. He/she will develop effective uses of technology within students affairs to support students, assist in the development of student leadership and training programs for Student Government Officers, student leaders, student aides as well as recreational and club sports staff. The candidate will, develop and conduct continual assessment and evaluation of campus life programs and services provided through the Offices of Student Activities and Leadership Development, prepare weekly utilization summaries and draft annual reports, represent the department, division and the college at internal as well as external professional meetings, conferences and functions, serve on the management team of the Dean of Campus Life as well as other campus, division and college-wide committees and planning groups, assist in the preparation of the departmental annual goals and objectives planning document and end of the year report and perform other duties as assigned. Master’s degree in higher education administration, student development, counseling or related field required with 2 to 4 years’ experience (post masters) is required in Higher Education. Experience working with leadership development, programs and services related to Orientation and supervision of fraternities and sororities is required. Must have exceptional interpersonal, organizational, communication skills; advocacy and decision-making skills are preferred as well as an appreciation of a culturally diverse student population. Prior knowledge and practice with web design, social media and marketing is preferred.
